Having Becca Syme on our podcast as our very first guest ever was an amazing honor. Now, she’s coming back, ready to present for us the idea that we as writers may be what is known as, “Intuitive.”

Of course, having listened to our encouragement and advice, you are going to come to the table with a list of “non-negotiables” in hand. But what other considerations are there for creating a group that will both serve your needs and honor Christ?

Hopefully, you were with us for last week’s episode, in which we covered the pleasure and pain that is receiving negative feedback. If not, you missed our discussion coming full circle to the idea that sometimes negative feedback is actually in order, and can propel a writer to the next level in her craft. After all, if you are never told that your passive voice is making your writing less impactful, or that you are inappropriately using parentheticals, em dashes, or other marks of punctuation, how on earth will you ever improve?

We’ve all heard some version of this adage, and for the most part, it’s true—getting an item of high quality requires an investment. And, as we’ve discussed many times on the podcast, there are costs associated with publishing a book.
But does publishing a high-quality book have to cost a lot of money?
Is it really necessary to buy the most expensive cover you can afford?

It seems there are opportunities everywhere for Christian writers to become published. In fact, it seems all one must do is think about someday, maybe, possibly writing a book, and opportunities to become published appear in one’s social media feed, email inbox, or DM’s.
Most of us are savvy enough to know that with offers to publish, as with all of life’s opportunities, the old adage holds fast: “if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.” However, there are some pretty tempting opportunities out there, oftentimes delivered swathed in slick promotional materials which lend an air of legitimacy to an otherwise dicey-seeming situation.
