Dear Christian Indies,
A certain book company which shall not be named has recently announced plans to launch a new platform for authors to showcase their work. Almost immediately, the writer-sphere blew up with one burning about this opportunity, “should I participate?”
Of course, the answer to this question is going to be different for every author, but as the other hosts and I chatted, an overarching principle emerged – “beware of shiny new things.”
For our purposes, a shiny new thing is anything that tempts to distract you from the work you have already dedicated your time and effort to do – specifically, anything that deviates from your current business plan.
We’ll talk about the most recent opportunity for distraction, as well as the other things which have come along to tempt us away from our business plans – known pitfalls as we journey toward publication, and beyond.
We’re looking forward to chatting with you all about the opportunities on today’s writing scene, and helping you to stand firm if you should decide to stand firm against this, “shiny new thing.”
See you there,
