Hey Christian Indies,
We’re excited; we have a HUGE first on the podcast this week – our first guest!
That’s right, Becca Syme from The Better, Faster Academy will be joining to talk about our individual strengths, as measured by the Clifton Strengthsfinder Assessment. She’ll be taking a peek at each of the podcast hosts’ “top five” results, and giving us her perspective as to how our individual strengths can enhance the ministry of our podcast.
When I first heard of the test, I was not interested in taking it, as the cost for the full test seemed prohibitive. However, I found a code in a book to get my “top five” for what I felt was an affordable price, and I am so glad I did! Why? Well, because, dear Inde, I have found a new understanding of and peace with myself through this assessment.
Allow me to explain; it is exploring one particular trait – or, “Theme,” as it labeled in the Strengthsfinder materials – which has sort of jolted some of my stagnant thinking loose and freed me to forgive myself at a level never before possible. That theme is “Strategic,” and it is my number one Theme, according to my recent assessment.
This rings true as I reflect; turns out, I have been a strategic thinker my whole life. What I mean is, I am naturally able to see and prepare for the future, and I act accordingly. While I have recognized the impact of that fact on myself and others around me, have only recently – via the Strenghtsfinder Assessment – been able to understand what was going on, much less put it into words.
You see, a strategic thinker comes off like a negative person, because they are always pointing out the tragedy potentially lurking around every corner. That was me, growing up. To make it worse, I was a kid who liked gathering facts and regurgitating them – a real “know it all.”
For some reason, I found it difficult to make friends.
So, I started a course of self-improvement which began with books like, “How to Win Friends and Influence People.” (See? Strategizing at it’s best!) Before long, I was an Influencer supreme! Just ask the podcast ladies, who all expected me to at least have ONE influencer trait in my top five!
It may be difficult for another person to understand, but believe me when I say, learning I have the mind of a strategist has explained why I so often feel I am not being authentic, and has brought much relief to my troubled soul. I can’t wait to hear what our special guest has to say about how Strategic Thinking and other themes factor in to how we four ladies make the podcast “magic” happen!
See you there!
